Clemson Tigers Gymnastics: Tigers Fall in Another Close Meet to Stanford

The Clemson Tigers gymnastics took on the Stanford Cardinal in a closely contested gymnastics meet, delivering strong performances across all four events. Despite consistent and impressive scores, the Tigers ultimately fell short against a talented Stanford team 196.925 to 196.575. Here’s a breakdown of each rotation.


Vault

Quinn Kuhl led off for Clemson on vault, performing a Yurchenko Full to score a 9.725. Kate Bryant followed with another Yurchenko Full, earning a 9.700, which was later dropped. Maggie Holman impressed with her Front Handspring Pike Half, scoring a 9.850. Madison Minner executed a Tucked Yurchenko 1.5, earning a solid 9.825. Tara Walsh also performed a Yurchenko 1.5, matching Holman’s 9.850. Eve Jackson rounded out the lineup with her own Yurchenko 1.5, scoring a 9.800. Despite Clemson’s solid effort, Stanford took an early lead after the first rotation, 49.350 to 49.050, thanks to standout performances from Ui Soma (9.950) and Anna Roberts (9.900) on bars.


Bars

Lilly Lippeatt got things started on bars for Clemson, posting a 9.800. Takoda Berry delivered a strong routine, sticking her landing for a 9.875 which is a new career high for Berry. Eve Jackson followed with a 9.775, which was later dropped. Lauren Rutherford had a solid showing, earning a 9.825. Rebecca Wells executed a near-flawless routine, sticking her landing for a 9.875. Hannah Clark anchored the event with another stuck landing, also scoring a 9.875. Clemson’s bars squad put up an impressive 49.250, keeping them in the fight as they trailed Stanford by just 0.050, 98.350 to 98.300.


Beam

Lippeatt once again led off, scoring a steady 9.800. Brie Clark followed with a 9.825. Danika Nielsen suffered a fall, earning an 8.925, which was dropped. Tara Walsh rebounded with a solid 9.750 after sticking her dismount. Sierra Church fought through a near-fall, ultimately scoring a 9.725. Quinn Kuhl delivered a crucial performance to close out the event, earning a 9.875. Despite the Tigers' resilience, Stanford maintained their lead heading into the final rotation, 147.750 to 147.275, aided by a stellar 9.925 from Anna Roberts.


Floor

Lippeatt opened the floor rotation with a 9.675. Holman had a slight misstep, stepping out of bounds and finishing with a 9.625. Minner brought the energy back with a strong 9.850. Molly Arnold delivered a standout routine, scoring a 9.900. Jackson raised the bar even higher with a phenomenal 9.950. Brie Clark closed the meet with an outstanding 9.925. Clemson’s floor team put up a 49.300, but despite their efforts, the Tigers fell just short in the meet.


Though Clemson ultimately fell to Stanford, the Tigers showcased their depth and consistency, particularly on bars and floor. With strong performances across the board, they continue to build momentum as the season progresses. Their resilience and execution will serve them well in future competitions. Clemson will now shift their focus to their next meet on Friday, February 28th at 5 p.m. in the Military Appreciation meet against Texas Women’s University and University of New Hampshire.
