Clemson Women’s Lacrosse earned its first-ever bid to the NCAA tournament. The Tigers will take on Navy on Friday, May 9th, on ESPN+. The field of 29 teams is made up of 15 conference champions earning automatic bids and 14 at-large selections. The single-elimination tournament will conclude with final rounds at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, on May 23-25.
Clemson went 13-6 in the regular season with a 6-3 ACC mark. The program recorded its first-ever winning record in conference play. They advanced to the ACC Tournament Semifinals but was defeated by North Carolina 17-7.
Offensively, Lindsey Marshall leads the team in points with 68, off 56 goals and 12 assists. She set the single-season record for goals and points. All-ACC Second Team Kayla MacLeod and Shurtleff have also shown themselves to be offensive threats this season. Both sophomores have broken Hilcoff’s career record of 85 points and have both recorded at least 45 points this season. The trio wouldn't be complete without main facilitator Brooke Goldstein posting 40 assists.
On the other side of the ball, Clemson is equally impressive. Summer Agostino has earned ACC defender of the week honors two times this season. The senior has broken single-season records for caused turnovers with 53 this season and ground balls with 48. Both marks lead the ACC, are top-five nationally, and Agostino is one of three players in the nation who have over 50 caused turnovers and over 45 ground balls.
Last but certainly not least, Clemson has a wall between the pipes. Emily Lamparter is having an incredible senior season. The goalie recorded her seventh double-digit save effort on the year against Pittsburgh, the 13th of her career, and her sixth game this season with a save rate higher than 60%.
This has already been a historic season for the program. Stay tuned as the Tigers go dancing for the first time.
