Huge week on the diamonds for Clemson Baseball and Softball
First up, it’s postseason time in Durham:
Clemson Baseball gets ACC Tournament play started tomorrow at 1 PM EDT at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Tigers will face the winner of today’s Stanford vs. Virginia Tech matchup, which also begins at 1 PM on the ACC Network if you want an early look at the possible opponent.
Clemson comes in fresh off a sweep at Pittsburgh, a series where they finally looked like the team many expected to see down the stretch. Cam Cannarella helped spark the offense back to life, and the Tigers’ pitching staff made history on Friday by tossing the 15th no-hitter in program history.
The Tigers are still projected to host an NCAA Regional next weekend, but to keep that a reality, they’ll need to bring the same version of themselves from Pittsburgh to Durham. Yes, Clemson has won 41 games this season, but critics argue they haven’t performed well against top-tier competition. This week offers the perfect chance to shut that talk down. Run the ACC Tournament. Send a message. Let the postseason know that Clemson is ready to roll.
They’ve set themselves up for doubt with recent struggles, but now it’s time to respond. This team isn’t backing into the postseason, they’re walking in with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. Luke O'Reilly will have your post game recap of what happened, here at tigerviewmedia.com.
Then, all eyes shift to Austin:
The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas, as Clemson Softball begins its Super Regional run Thursday night at 9 PM EDT on ESPN2. The Tigers are two wins away from punching the first-ever ticket to Oklahoma City in program history, but they’ll have to get through Texas in a best-of-three battle. My key for this weekend is pitching dominance; this Tigers team will go as far as Reese Basinger and Brooke McCubbin will take them. As long as they are shutting teams down, you know the offense will come up with the runs needed to win.
All three games, if needed, are set for 9:00 PM EDT, with the first two airing on ESPN2. Clemson has already shocked the softball world more than once this season, and now the Tigers get a shot at doing it again on one of the biggest stages.
Make no mistake, this team isn’t timid or wide-eyed. They’re confident, fiery, and absolutely built for this moment. They don’t play scared. They don’t flinch. Stay tuned with us here at Tiger View Media, as Katie Gerbasich will have your complete post game recap from each game at tigerviewmedia.com.
