The Clemson Tigers are rolling into Atlanta with momentum and confidence, ready to close out the regular season and ACC slate with a three-game series against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Fresh off a thrilling road victory over No. 1 ranked Tennessee, the Tigers carry a 38-12 overall record and a 16-5 mark in ACC play into their weekend finale.

Clemson’s stunning win in Knoxville was one of the most exciting nights of the season. The Tigers took down the top-ranked Lady Volunteers in front of a Tennessee crowd, adding a signature SEC win to their resume. The game showed the growth and fearlessness of this team, with younger players continuing to shine and senior leaders setting the tone.

Senior Reese Basinger handled the early part of the game in the circle, keeping Tennessee’s potent offense in check. When the Lady Vols started to push back, senior Brooke McCubbin took over and finished the job in dominant fashion, pitching four innings and giving up just two hits and two walks to lock down the upset.

Now, Clemson shifts its focus to Georgia Tech, a team the Tigers have dominated since the program’s inception. This Friday's meeting marks the 11th all-time meeting between Clemson and the Yellow Jackets, with Clemson holding a perfect 10-0 record. Seven of those matchups have come in Atlanta at Mewborn Field, where the Tigers will look to keep their streak against the Jackets alive.

Georgia Tech enters the weekend with a 26-18 overall record, including a 10-8 mark in ACC play. Saturday will be senior day in Atlanta, as the Yellow Jackets honor six graduating seniors. Emotions will be high, with the home team eager to send their seniors out on a winning note.

The Jackets are coming off a 5-2 rivalry loss to Georgia on Tuesday, where Lilli Backes of UGA limited Tech’s offensive output. Still, the Yellow Jackets boast several key contributors who have powered their offense this season:

Key Players for Georgia Tech:

  • Gracyn Tucker: .323 AVG, 11 HR, 39 RBI

  • Alyssa Willer: .360 AVG, 6 HR, 25 RBI

  • Addison Leschber: .343 AVG, 6 HR, 26 RBI

  • Eliana Gottlieb: .315 AVG, 4 HR, 25 RBI, 11 doubles

  • Sophia Voyles: 11-6, 2.62 ERA, 121 strikeouts

Clemson looks to finish the regular season riding the momentum they’ve built across the past two months. It has been a remarkable turnaround since their early struggles. If the Tigers take this series, they’ll finish with 40 or more regular season wins for the fourth time in the program’s six-year history.

Though there’s still one more weekend of regular season play across the league, Clemson will be on a bye and likely keeping an eye on the Florida State–Virginia Tech series. That matchup could carry postseason seeding implications. Clemson currently sits as the No. 3 seed in the ACC but could still climb higher depending on how results shake out. While the team will stay focused on business this weekend, it’s fun for fans to consider how far this team has come, and where they are headed; especially after being picked seventh in the ACC preseason poll. It’s safe to say they’ve exceeded expectations.

Back to this weekend! Tune in and continue supporting these Tigers. They’ve earned every bit of attention they’re getting, and it’s shaping up to be a fun and meaningful series in Atlanta.
